Route 66 near Halltown Missouri, September 2015.
Well, I thought this would be simple but it is not. I can see on a map exactly where this building is, but Google Maps, Bing Maps and MapQuest all label things differently and none of the three are totally correct.
West of Halltown Missouri, State road 266 (which is all part of Historic Route 66) and the newer Highway 96 come close to each other at one point, but do not cross. There is a short bit of road that connects the two and that is where this building is.
Bing Maps and Mapquest are marking this spot as "Paris Springs" but that is NOT correct. Paris Springs was NEVER on Route 66. "Paris Spring Junction" is a bit further to the West, but we will get to that later.
I don't know what this building was or if this place ever had a name, but it is NOT Paris Springs.
What Google Maps gets wrong is that they show that Highway 96 was Route 66 west of this point, but Route 66 and Highway 96 don't merge until four or five miles west of here.
